The ‘Sip Magazine is a relatively new addition to the magazine scene here in Mississippi. Based out of Vicksburg, the publication is distributed all across the state and highlights the unique stories and characters from every corner. The style and quality of the magazine are fantastic and they pay special attention to the design and layout, which is very appealing to me.
I had the opportunity to provide the photography to support an article on Chef Ty Thames (Restaurant Tyler, Bin 612, and The Guest Room). I had worked with Ty in the past and loved working with him again. He is extremely talented and I am always amazed to see what he creates. This was also very exciting because it was my first time seeing the newly-opened cocktail bar The Guest Room, which is located in the basement below Restaurant Tyler. This place is amazing! It is an old-fashioned speakeasy specializing in quality cocktails and fresh ingredients. The Guest Room is truly unique. It is small and intimate, and the style and design of the space is beautiful. There is no signage or advertising, only a non-descript entrance in through the back alley. Very cool!
I was actually the first person to photograph the space, which was also exciting. Anyway, back to the article! Freelance writer Kate Gregory developed the article that focused on Chef Thames’s story and his many business ventures in Starkville. The story was published in the Winter 2015 issue.
I really enjoyed working with The ‘Sip and look forward to telling you about future projects with them! Look for copies of the magazine in your area and be sure to visit one of Chef Thames restaurants when you visit Starkville!
